Wipe each piece with a soft polishing cloth after you wear it; it works on sterling silver, gold filled and 14k gold. For a deeper clean, use warm soapy water and a soft toothbrush, gently, or a pearl-safe jewelry cleaner, soaking only for a short time. Shells and pearls are the exception: see below.

We'd take it off. Pool and sea water, sunscreen, lotion, perfume and hair spray can all dull metal over time, and we've heard too many stories of pieces getting lost. Put your jewelry on last, after everything else.

Keep each piece on its own in a jewelry box, somewhere cool and dry, so chains don't tangle and stones don't scratch. Many of our pieces are wire-wrapped, so handle them gently. For travel, the drawstring pouch most pieces come in works well.

Yes. They're porous and can absorb what they touch, so wipe them with a soft dry cloth and keep them away from water, perfume and lotion. Pieces with porcupine quills should stay dry.

Sterling silver, 14k gold and 14k gold filled. Gold filled holds up far better than plated jewelry, but worn every day for years it will slowly start to dull; the better you care for it, the longer it shines. Solid 14k gold lasts a lifetime.
